Working at Mt Cheeseman Ski Area

 

Are you interested in working at cheeseman? We are a small ski area that operates all regular aspects of a regular ski area operation and also owns and operates two accommodation lodges. With competitive remuneration including meals, accommodation and ski passes we provide a seamless deal that enables our staff to enjoy working and living in the mountains. We have a strong contingent of returning staff that work well as a team and look forward to working with additional new team members. We all have high professional standards and expect each other to work with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. Working in a small team demands flexibility, a willingness to help out to cover others days off and especially when things get busy.

 

Staff are accommodated in both lodges with the location depending on the role undertaken. Most are at Snowline Lodge within meters of the main t-bar while some have the benefit of being amongst the beach forest and next to our ice skating rink at Forest Lodge. Phones, power, dial up internet, laundry facilities and private staff rooms enable you to take time to relax at the end of each working day. All staff work on a roster and rotation that ensures ample time off to enjoy the local attractions.

 

Working at cheeseman is an absolutely fabulous fun experience it can also be hard work, occasionally requiring long hours to get the job done. You will get to ski or board and party if you want, but that is secondary to fulfilling work tasks effectively. All staff are expected to complete the whole job for the entire season.

 

Cheeseman is the closest club ski area to Christchurch. Situated less than 90 minutes west on highway 73 the area promotes friendly, family, fun, accessible, alpine experiences. We are seeking applications for the following positions for the 2008 winter months (June to October)

 

• Chef (qualified with experience you will need to be familure with cooking and baking for up to a maximum of 90 people three meals a day with a three course dinner) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Avalanche Forecasters (min Avalanche two, first aid and explosives certification with forecasting experience you will also be required to assist other field staff) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Mechanic (diesel preferred with experience operating heavy machinery) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Driver (Grooming experience and snow removal) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Instructors ski, board and telemark (ISIA) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Rental technician (customer service and ski tuning ) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Office staff (customer service and good with numbers) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Lift operators (customer service and mechanical aptitude) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
• Cafe staff (customer service focus and barista experience and advantage) POSITIONS FILLED FOR 2008
